Requirements to join

Postnatal care isn’t a regulated profession in the UK, but we hold every carer to the standards families trust. Here’s what we verify before your profile goes live.

Right to work in the UK
A valid passport, visa or government share code proving you can legally work in the UK.
Enhanced DBS certificate
An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check including the children’s barred list — standard for anyone working closely with newborns and families.
Essential certificationsRequired
Paediatric first aid
A current Ofsted-compliant paediatric first aid certificate (e.g. a 12-hour course), renewed every 3 years.
Safeguarding training
Up-to-date safeguarding training covering both children and vulnerable adults.
Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene
To prepare postpartum confinement meals — 薑醋, 雞酒 and nourishing soups — safely in a family’s home.
Public liability insurance
Professional indemnity or public liability cover for working in private homes.
